Jude : The Letter of Jude
Chapter 1
1:1Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
1:2Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
1:3Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
1:4For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
1:5I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
1:6And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
1:7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
1:8Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
1:9Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
1:10But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
1:11Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
gen:4:3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
gen:4:4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
gen:4:5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
gen:4:6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
gen:4:7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
gen:4:8And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
1jn:3:12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
num:31:16Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
2pe:2:15Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
num:16:1Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
num:16:2And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
num:16:3And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?
num:16:4And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
num:16:5And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
num:16:6This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
num:16:7And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
num:16:10And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
num:16:11For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
num:16:16And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the LORD, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
num:16:19And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation.
num:16:20And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
num:16:21Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
num:16:22And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
num:16:23And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
num:16:24Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
num:16:26And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
num:16:27So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
num:16:28And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
num:16:30But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
num:16:31And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
num:16:32And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
num:16:33They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
num:16:34And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
num:16:35And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
num:16:36And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
num:16:37Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
num:16:38The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
num:16:39And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
num:16:40To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
COBL
1:12These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
1:13Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
1:14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
1:15To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
1:16These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
1:17But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1:18How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
1:19These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
1:20But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
1:21Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
1:22And of some have compassion, making a difference:
1:23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
1:24Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
1:25To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
