1:2Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD's house should be built.
1:3Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
1:4Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
1:5Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
1:6Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
deu:28:38Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
hos:4:10For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.
mic:6:14Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.
mic:6:15Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.
zec:8:10For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.
